Latest Business Update: Q1 2025

Welcome to the latest edition of The Beam Brief. Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening at Beam in Q1 2025 – from industry recognition, to de-risking seabeds and new tech releases.

In January, Beam was listed at number 40 in The Sunday Times 100 Tech list – which highlights the UK’s fastest-growing private tech companies.

It’s great recognition for all of the hard work and focus our teams put into our vision. From AI and robotics to automation offshore, we’re pushing to make offshore wind faster, safer and more scalable. Thank you to everyone who’s part of the journey – our team, our partners, and our investors.

We’ve released a new tool that’s helping offshore wind developers move faster.

Our VP of Data & AI, Catherine Seale, and Senior Product Manager, Will Floutier, have led the launch of Beam’s AI-powered boulder picking tool. It interprets side scan sonar data in a fraction of the time of the current manual process – automatically detecting and measuring boulders with a high level of accuracy.

It means faster decisions, better data, and a clearer path to first power.

Offshore wind starts with a clear seabed – and that’s where we can come in.

In the past few months, Beam’s delivered high-precision UXO identification and clearance across the UK and Europe, helping to de-risk projects safely, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact. From early site investigations to full-scale clearance, we work with leading developers to get seabeds ready for construction.

With real-time 3D visualisation, AI-powered insights, and a permanently mobilised DP2 fleet, we make it possible to move faster and with more certainty – reducing costs, avoiding return trips, and keeping projects on track.

As more offshore assets approach end of life, decommissioning is becoming a growing part of the sector’s long-term challenge and we’re experiencing more clients needing support.

Beam provides high-resolution insight into seabed conditions and ageing infrastructure, giving clients a clearer picture of what’s there, what needs to go, and how best to manage it.

Our survey capability and 3D reconstructions help teams understand complex subsea environments that may not have been touched in years, saving time and reducing costs by knowing the size of the challenge upfront. We also support environmental sampling and long-term post-decommissioning monitoring where required.

Over the last 12 months, our team has grown substantially to meet demand across the offshore wind sector. By automating critical operations with AI and robotics, we’re helping the industry scale faster, cut costs, and drive the transition to net zero.

Beam has also been named a ‘Fast Track Company of the Year’ finalist in the UK Green Business Awards 2025 – a great moment that reflects the impact our team is making across the sector.
