2016
Rovco is founded
In 2016, the company was founded by Brian Allen and Joe Tidball, born from an idea to use technology for good and minimise the environmental impact of offshore operations.
2019
Series A Funding
Completion of a successful £3.9 million Series A investment from Foresight group via Foresight Williams Technology EIS Fund and Foresight VCTs.
2019
First project at galloper OWF
Successful completion of first 3D inspection and 3D modelling project at Galloper offshore wind farm.
2019
Growth to 45 staff
The business grows to 45 members of staff and secures £10m worth of contacts over the financial year
2021
Launch of sister company, Vaarst
Rovco expanded with the launch of its sister company, Vaarst, to scale up technologies for the wider market.
2022
Series B raise funding
Completion of a successful series B raise, co-led by Legal % General Capital alongside Equinor Ventures, alongside existing shareholder Foresight Group, and In-Q-Tel.
2023
Launch of Marine Site Characterisation business unit
The company launches a new dedicated marine site characterisation business line, to help address a crucial industry shortfall.
2024
Rovco and Vaarst merge to become Beam
In September, we merged Vaarst’s world-class research and development capabilities with Rovco’s deployment expertise under a new company name – Beam.
